iHeartPodcasts and Curiosity Debut Narrative Podcast “Red Elvis” With School of Humans
New Series Tells the Story of American Singer Dean Reed Who Gained Stardom in
Communist Europe During The Cold War Then Mysteriously Died
Listen to the trailer HERE
New York - November 30, 2022 - iHeartPodcasts, Curiosity Inc., and School of Humans today debut “Red Elvis,” the first narrative podcast in the Curiosity Audio Network. “Red Elvis” explores the incredible life and death of Dean Reed, an American singer and actor who struggled in Hollywood during the late 1950s but became a superstar behind the Iron Curtain. Listeners can hear “Red Elvis” on iHeartRadio and anywhere podcasts are heard beginning December 7. The official podcast trailer is available now, HERE.
After decades living abroad and speaking out against the American government, Reed died mysteriously months after telling friends and family he planned to come home to the United States. Was it an accident? Did he commit suicide? Or was he killed for his political beliefs?
Dean Reed's daughter Ramona Reed is the host and executive producer of Red Elvis. Over six episodes, she explores her father’s legacy and the unanswered questions surrounding his death.
“Dean Reed was an all-American boy who became a superstar in the Eastern Bloc. For 25 years, he was a worldwide rockstar, actor, director, producer and revolutionary,” said Ramona Reed. “He crusaded for leaders such as Chilean President Salvador Allende, Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, and communist revolutionary Che Guevara. But as he made plans to attend my graduation in Los Angeles, he disappeared and was later found dead in an East Berlin lake. Suspicious, yes, unbelievable, yes - but all true.”
“Red Elvis” features interviews with Dean Reed’s friends, family, and fans, as well as Cold War experts to provide critical context for Reed’s time living in South America and Eastern Germany.
The podcast is based on the Curiosity original documentary “Red Elvis: The Cold War Cowboy” produced by Talos Films and directed by Thomas Latter. The film is available to watch on Curiosity Stream.

"What makes this podcast so timely and amazing is that it is an opportunity to showcase the new spirit of creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship and public service that is embodied by this year's Advertising Hall of Achievers," said Mr. Martin. Added Ms. Romer, "History is about learning from the past to help make a better future. Pairing legends of the past with leaders of tomorrow is a unique and exciting way to explore where we have been and where we are going."
Said Steve Pacheco, President and CEO of AAF, "AAF prides itself on being a unifying voice for advertising and a beacon for attracting talent to the advertising industry. The new 'Future Legends of Advertising' podcast series will bring both of these promises to life."
"Future Legends of Advertising" will be distributed by the iHeartPodcast Network and will be available on the iHeartRadio app and everywhere podcasts are heard beginning today, concurrent with induction ceremonies for this year's AAF Advertising Hall of Achievement. Ceremonies will take place at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City. More than 400 corporate business leaders are expected to attend.
