NEW YORK, N.Y. – April 23, 2024 – America’s #1 audio company iHeartMedia and Deep Blue Sports + Entertainment today announced a new partnership to launch the Women’s Sports Audio Network (WSAN), the first-ever audio platform dedicated exclusively to women’s sports. As a net-new audio platform dedicated to exploring and celebrating women’s sports competitions, including athletes’ stories on and off the field, WSAN is a free, ad-supported network that will include podcasts, daily sports reports, spotlights and audio vignettes, social content, promotion and industry event presence, and will be available across iHeartMedia’s broadcast, digital and podcast platforms and everywhere podcasts are heard.

The launch of the first-ever women’s sports audio network comes at a time when investment and viewership numbers for women’s sports are on the rise. This year, elite women’s sports are currently expected to become a $1 billion industry, representing a 300% increase in just three years, while in the US, women's sports still only receive 15% of media coverage.

By launching a network dedicated to delivering what fans want most – more access to the athletes, the influencers, the stories and the daily conversation around all things women sports – iHeartMedia and Deep Blue aim to amplify well-known and new influential female sports athletes and relevant programming to millions of listeners nationwide, and also unlock access to inventory and opportunities for brands to engage in an emerging market across various sports and communities. In a recent Deloitte report, research found that for every dollar spent in women’s sports, more than seven dollars was generated in “customer value for that organization.”

Women’s sports extends much further than the popular NCAA tournament and World Cup; The Women’s Sports Audio Network is designed to offer talent and programming year-round with the launch of new daily shows focused on a wide range of sports and commentary from a variety of talent, including leading sports media personality Sarah Spain and WNBA Legend, three-time Olympic gold medalist, Sheryl Swoopes, with more talent to be announced in the coming weeks.

Unscripted Television in association with Telepictures are set to produce "Trapped In Treatment," a new iHeartRadio Original docu-style podcast series that will examine and expose the dark secrets and controversial practices of the “troubled teen industry”.

Beginning with Provo Canyon School, each season will focus on unmasking one youth treatment facility, through the experience and stories of its survivors and the traumatizing abuse at the hands of their captors.  Hilton has been at the forefront of creating legislation that regulates treatment centers for troubled teens in Utah after being mentally and physically abused at Provo Canyon School. "Trapped In Treatment" will debut in 2022.

“For 20 years, I lived silently with the memories, and the trauma, from my experience at Provo Canyon School. This past year, thousands of survivors like me have shared their stories, helping to bring into public view what so many of us have locked up. Provo Canyon School will not be able to hide behind the abuse they’ve caused survivors any longer. I am so proud to be producing 'Trapped in Treatment' and can’t wait to take you on this audio journey,” said Hilton.

Hosted by Caroline Cole and Rebecca Mellinger, "Trapped In Treatment" weaves together personal accounts with historical details and expert opinions to shine a light on what really happens at behavior modification centers and how this billion-dollar industry has flourished for so long.  Cole is an entrepreneur, activist and trauma-focused women’s transformation coach, who is also a survivor of a lock-down behavior modification facility, while Mellinger is Hilton's Impact Producer, who is working alongside Hilton to reform the "Troubled Teen Industry" through policy change, public awareness and mental health support.

This week, iHeartMedia World Premiered a series of new singles, including Imagine Dragons’ "Eyes Closed" and Glass Animals’ "Creatures In Heaven" on April 3 across all iHeartRadio ALT stations. On April 5, Kehlani’s "After Hours" had a World Premiere debut across all iHeartRadio Hip Hop and Rhythm CHR stations, while Five Finger Death Punch and DMX’s "This is the Way” had a World Premiere debut across all iHeartRadio Active Rock stations. Additionally, Vince Carter brings “The VC Show with Vince Carter” to the NBA Podcast Network for its much anticipated season two.

“NBA DNA with Hannah Storm” will feature host, commentator and “SportsCenter” anchor Hannah Storm delving into her incredible life and drawing stories from her earliest days as a fan, when her father was commissioner of the ABA (the league that later merged with the NBA) and she witnessed the Pacers’ logo getting designed on her kitchen table to her historic career as a pioneer in the field of sports broadcasting for women. This multi-part podcast series – featuring legendary Hall of Famers, current NBA superstars and basketball media personalities – will unfold through interviews, archive audio and first-person narrative that will interweave her personal story with the history of modern professional basketball.

The show features the eight-time NBA All-Star sharing incredible behind-the-scenes stories from his life and 22-year career in the league with the biggest names in sports and entertainment. In the season two debut, Carter talks with former UNC Tar Heel teammate and NBA great Antawn Jamison. During the episode, the two discuss some of their greatest memories on campus in Chapel Hill as well as the epic night Antawn dropped 51 on Kobe Bryant and the Lakers. This week Carter will sit down with Jameer Nelson…
