Bloomberg Media and iHeartMedia Announce Lineup of New Original Podcasts

Programs cover a range of topics from crypto and financial crime to daily news and local politics

New York -- May 27, 2022 – Bloomberg Media and iHeartMedia, the No.1 podcast publisher globally according to Podtrac, today announced its lineup of new original podcasts for 2022, featuring a mix of daily and weekly news programs and narrative-style limited series. These five shows will be the first podcasts to debut as part of a multiyear agreement to co-produce and distribute more than a dozen new original podcasts. The full slate of shows is distributed by the iHeartPodcast Network and can be heard on iHeartRadio and everywhere podcasts are available.

The slate of upcoming podcasts for 2022:

- Bloomberg Crypto (Premiering June 2022): Bloomberg’s reporting team will tease out what’s actually important in the crypto conversation in this daily podcast. Led by stacy-marie ishmael, the newsroom’s managing editor for crypto, Bloomberg Crypto will draw on reporters from every region around the globe and highlight credible voices in the industry. Expect informed discussions of everything from regulation to alt coins to the environmental impact of an asset class that is already changing the landscape of finance. Listen to the trailer for Bloomberg Crypto HERE.

- Bedrock, USA (Premiering July 2022): In a super-divided, pandemic-era America awash in conspiracies and misinformation, Bedrock, USA is about a group of people who didn’t like what they saw happening in their local governments, and decided to get involved – whether that meant holding a rally, recalling an official or storming their government with bullhorns and threats. Their stories show how far-right ideologies enter into local politics – sometimes quietly, other times at full volume. Hosted by Bloomberg CityLab reporter Laura Bliss, Bedrock, USA will be a limited series podcast about political extremism, small town life and the fight for democracy.

- In Trust (Premiering September 2022): In Trust will be a limited series about how members of one of the wealthiest families in Osage County, Oklahoma – home to the federally recognized Osage Nation – came to own more land in the area than anyone else. The series will uncover a massive transfer of wealth a century ago, out of Osage hands and into white ones – facilitated by the United States government -- and how the Osage Nation is fighting to reverse decades of land loss today.

- The Big Take (Premiering September 2022): Listeners will become immersed in the most urgent stories of the day – on business, markets, economics, finance, politics, technology and more – with The Big Take, a new daily podcast that will feature in-depth, original reporting from Bloomberg's journalists around the world. Hosted by Weston Kosova, The Big Take will take the audience behind the news to make sense of what's happening, and why it matters, with richly told stories that can't be found anywhere else.

- Crash Course (Premiering October 2022): Hosted by Bloomberg Opinion senior columnist Tim O’Brien, Crash Course will bring listeners directly into the arenas where epic business and social upheavals occur. Every week, Crash Course will explore the lessons to be learned when creativity and ambition collide with competition and power -- on Wall Street and Main Street, and in Hollywood and Washington.

Podimo and iHeartMedia’s “Forgotten: Women of Juárez” Multi-Language Podcast Collaboration Wins First-Of-Its-Kind Award for “Best Latin American Podcast of the Year”

NEW YORK -- May 20, 2022 --True crime podcast “Forgotten: Women of Juárez,” about femicides in Juarez, Mexico, has won the "Best Latin American Podcast of the Year" Award at Estación Podcast Festival, the leading podcasting event in Spain and Latin America. The podcast, a partnership between Podimo and iHeartMedia, was translated and adapted in three languages: Spanish, German and Danish, and is the first translated podcast to win this award.

At the beginning of the 1990s, the chilling phenomenon of the dead women of Juárez came to light: young women who were abducted during their journeys from home to school or work and vice versa, who were sexually abused and whose remains appeared later, dumped in the desert with total impunity. Stunned, we witness one of the most terrifying episodes in the history of contemporary Mexico. The city of Juárez became the most dangerous place in the world to be a woman. Almost 30 years after the sinister discovery of the first mass grave in Lote Bravo, the crimes not only continue to happen, but have spread throughout the country, the entire continent.

“Forgotten: Women of Juárez” is the essential return to the origin: who and why unleashed the violence in Juárez in the mid-1990s? Why so much impunity? What responsibility does the United States have in all this? Is it a serial killer, a satanic sect or an organized group? What role have Mexican and US authorities played in the investigations? Why are these murders still unsolved? Above all: why understanding what happened in Juárez is crucial to raise awareness and put a definitive stop to violence against women? To answer these questions, this podcast brings together statements from journalists, police authorities from both sides of the border, and relatives of the victims.

“Olvidadas: las muertas de Juárez” is the Spanish adaptation of “Forgotten: Women of Juárez,” one of the most intimate and shocking true crime podcasts of 2020 of the same title, created, reported and investigated in its original version by Mónica Ortiz Uribe and Oz Woloshyn, whose investigations are voiced in Spanish by Mexico City-based investigative journalists Sandra Romandía and Rossana Fuentes Berain, respectively. The podcast was originally produced by iHeartMedia and Unusual Productions and was translated by Podimo.

The jury of the Ibero-American Station Podcast Festival awarded “Olvidadas: las muertas de Juárez” unanimously, the award for the best podcast of the year in Latin America. The Spanish version consists of an introductory episode + ten episodes with an approximate duration of 45 minutes + two bonus tracks where each of the hosts addresses the issue from their trenches and offers an intimate and necessary look at a time when femicides in Latin America represent one of the most worrying and urgent problems in the region.

Listen to “Forgotten: Women of Juárez” on Podimo, the leading platform for podcasts and audiobooks in Spanish. The translated series is distributed worldwide via the iHeartPodcast Network and is also available on iHeartRadio and all major podcast platforms.

New iHeartRadio Original Podcast "The Unimaginable with James Brown," Delves Into Life’s Many Pivotal Lessons

WHAT: “The Unimaginable” is a show about phenomenal encounters and the life altering decisions people make because of them. Join Belfast born host and musician James Brown as he investigates unusual perspectives born out of the unimaginable. Each episode starts with a guest’s unimaginable event followed by a conversation between James and his guest as they unpack (sometimes while laughing and crying) stories that touch on the unknown, loss, spirituality, resilience, power, life, presence, empathy and acceptance. Take a music driven ride with a group of unheard and unknown experts in the unimaginable to heal a little, feel less alone and to learn from those that have been to hell and back - sometimes more than once. Regarding the musical aspect of the podcast, James says, “There’s music in The Unimaginable podcast because sometimes music helps us understand things that words can’t.” A few songs featured in the podcast can be found HERE.

WHO: James Brown has lived a life that is often described as unimaginable. Not just for the tragedy but for the good moments as well. Born in Belfast at the tail end of a civil war he escaped the troubled streets by traveling the world as a missionary working with underprivileged children. At 23, James emigrated to the United States and settled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina. Sooner after, he met a deeply evangelical hipster family who lived in nearby Charlotte, NC. They started playing music together and James quickly fell in love with the youngest daughter, Ashlee. They started a band called “Matrimony,” for the union of music and words. A few years later, James and Ashlee's daughter, Cecelia was born. At 2 years old, Cecelia suddenly died from what doctors deemed “unexplained causes.” James created “The Unimaginable” podcast to talk to other people about their unimaginable experiences including love, loss, the supernatural, music, movies, the human condition, mental health, family, war and culture.

WHEN: “The Unimaginable” premieres today, Tuesday, May 10th, with new episodes released weekly on Tuesdays.

ASSETS: Hi-res logos for “The Unimaginable”, and a full bio & headshot for James Brown can be found HERE

Joined by just one other guitarist, he kicked off his set with "What's Your Country Song," before moving into his new single, "Slow Down Summer.” During his set, he performed "Sixteen,” “Die a Happy Man,” "Half Of Me” and "Look What God Gave Her.
  • Carrie Underwood dressed in denim and rhinestones – an ode to her upcoming new album – as she took over the stage for an incredible performance of several of her biggest hits and fan favorites, including "Church Bells," "Good Girl," "Ghost Story," "Jesus Take The Wheel," "How Great Thou Art," "Last Name" and "Before He Cheats.”
  • Maren Morris returned to her home state to perform some of her biggest hits and opened her set with "Circles Around This Town,” before trading in her guitar for a tambourine to perform "I Can't Love You Anymore," the duet she penned with husband Ryan Hurd. She then took the crowd to church with a performance of "My Church" and one of her biggest hits, “The Bones.”
  • Jimmie Allen made his debut at the 2022 iHeartCountry Festival and kicked off his set with an energetic performance of “Make Me Want To,” while dancing around stage before grabbing his guitar for an acoustic performance of “Down Home,” a song he wrote for his late father. He also performed “Best Shot,” and closed his set with “Freedom Was A Highway,” his feel-good anthem with Brad Paisley.
  • Texas native, Cody Johnson took the stage to perform three of his biggest hits, starting with "Dear Rodeo," his duet with country legend Reba McEntire. He then moved into his next song "Human," which will serve as his next single off his new album, and closed his set with "Till You Can't.”
  • Dustin Lynch had everyone at this year's iHeartCountry Festival in "Party Mode" throughout his entire performance. He made a memorable entrance to the iconic Beastie Boys song “Fight For Your Right (To Party),” while chugging a beer with his bandmates. During his set, he also handed out a beer helmet and sombreros to nearby audience members who later participated in an on-stage game of beer pong. He set the perfect tone for his unforgettable country anthems including “Small Town Boy,” “Where It's At” and his perfect-for-summer song, “Tequila On A Boat.”
  • Surprise guest Dierks Bentley joined Maren Morris and Daytime Village performer, Lainey Wilson for the "We're All Country" Guitar Pull powered by RAM Trucks. Joining forces for an unforgettable performance, Maren Morris and Lainey Wilson kicked off the set, each performing two songs — Morris sang "Rich" and "The Middle," while Wilson performed "Never Say Never" and "Things A Man "Oughta Know." Lainey then introduced the third star of the guitar pull: Dierks Bentley and helped him perform "Burning Man," before he continued with "Beers On Me" and "I Hold On."
  • Scotty McCreery opened up his set with "In Between," and “Damn Strait," while paying tribute to one of the biggest country stars ever to come from Texas, George Strait. He also performed "Five More Minutes," and concluded with “You Time.”
  • Zac Brown Band pulled out all the stops for their iHeartCountry Festival set, performing some of their biggest hits, and a few incredible covers. The band kicked off with "Homegrown" and "Out in the Middle" before performing a mashup of "Colder Weather" and the Eagles' "Take It To The Limit." Then, the group performed a cover of Rage Against the Machine's "Bulls On Parade" and finished the entire show with fan favorite, "Chicken Fried."
