BIN: Black Information Network Elevates Andrea Coleman to Vice President of News Operations and Mike Stevens to Managing Editor

NEW YORK – Sept. 15, 2022BIN: Black Information Network, the 24/7 comprehensive national audio news network dedicated to providing an objective, accurate and trusted source of continual news with a Black voice and perspective, announced today that Andrea Coleman has been elevated to Vice President of News Operations, while Mike Stevens becomes BIN’s first-ever Managing Editor.

As Vice President of News Operations, Coleman will lead the charge in keeping BIN: Black Information Network front and center while guiding newsroom operations to optimize the network’s reach, scale and influence. Coleman previously served as News Director of BIN. In the new Managing Editor position, Stevens will work closely with Coleman to guide newsroom operations, as well as assign and coordinate national and local news coverage. The shift in leadership structure comes after the passing of Tanita Myers, a seasoned network and local news manager, producer, broadcaster and anchor who joined BIN in June 2020 and was most recently serving as Vice President of News Operations.

Andrea Coleman joined iHeartMedia as an anchor/reporter for the Black Information Network in the summer of 2020 with 30 years of experience in the communications industry. Coleman is an Emmy award-winning journalist who formerly served as an anchor for CNN as well as CBS Atlanta. Other career highlights include the founding and publishing of “Cultured Living Atlanta Magazine,” a local publication that was dedicated to celebrating the history and excellence of the Black community in the metro Atlanta area. A longtime resident of Atlanta, Coleman is familiar with the issues of the Black community and is committed to helping give voice and expression to its success. Coleman has a Bachelor of Communications Degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Masters of Professional Studies in Publishing from George Washington University.

Mike Stevens has anchored and reported breaking news from coast to coast. His assignments have included news operations in New York City, Atlanta, Sacramento, Tampa, Flint, Columbus, Ohio and his native Philadelphia. During his 25-year career, Stevens has interviewed many newsmakers, athletes and entertainers including Coretta Scott King, Hank Aaron and Bill Cosby. Stevens reported from the scene of bombings in Atlanta and Birmingham and was among the first to announce the deaths of Michael Jackson, Prince and Whitney Houston.

CareerBuilder Expands 100,000 Careers Program by Offering Free Career Coaching Services to Black Information Network (BIN) Listeners

The new resource comes on the heels of the May launch aimed at connecting Black community members with jobs on the CareerBuilder site that provide stability, important benefits, and a higher income.

CHICAGO, July 26, 2022 — Today, CareerBuilder announced a new career coaching service that will provide Black Information Network (BIN) listeners with a free 45-minute coaching session. This comes following the announcement that CareerBuilder joined forces with BIN: Black Information Network to launch the 100,000 Careers platform created to connect 100,000 BIN listeners who are looking to advance their careers with current and future employers.

As part of this initiative, job seekers now have access to personalized career guidance via a complimentary coaching session to help unlock their professional potential. The offering provides the chance for BIN listeners to meet with an expert within their industry and receive individually tailored advice and actionable feedback to help promote their career growth. During the one-on-one session, job seekers can ask questions, identify strengths, and work to define a career path that fits their needs. Participants will receive an individualized report that includes actionable advice and a video recording following the online session.

NEW YORK – February 2, 2022BIN: Black Information Network, the 24/7 comprehensive national audio news network dedicated to providing an objective, accurate and trusted source of continual news with a Black voice and perspective, announced today that renowned media personality Ramses Ja will be joining the network as the host of The Black Information Network’s “Our Daily Story with Ramses Ja,” a new daily podcast. “Our Daily Story with Ramses Ja” will feature Black journalists from across America telling the most meaningful stories of the day, from their perspective. The daily talk-show style podcast will premiere later this month, with new episodes launching every weekday morning. Listeners will be able to hear the podcast on iHeartRadio and everywhere podcasts are heard.

In addition, Ja is also the host of “Civic Cipher,” a nationally syndicated podcast designed to give a voice to Black people in spaces where their culture is celebrated but little civic engagement takes place.

Tanita Myers is a seasoned network and local news manager, producer, broadcaster and anchor. She joined BIN in June 2020 following 15 years at Reach Media where she was Senior Director of Radio Operations. She previously served as Director of Operations for “The Tom Joyner Morning Show” and Executive Producer of “The Rickey Smiley Morning Show.” She has been heard on various radio stations in Phoenix, Dallas and Flint, Michigan.

Chris Thompson brings over 20 years of radio experience to the BIN team in the areas of Broadcast Operations, Programming , Sales, Affiliate Relations, and Talent Management. He is the former Vice President of Radio Operations for Reach Media and the "Tom Joyner Morning Show" and Tom Joyner's "Right Back Atcha" Weekend Show. Prior to joining Reach Media, he was the Executive Director of Network Operations for Connecticut based Buckley Radio and successfully managed syndication and affiliate clearances for the 15 nationally syndicated weekday and weekend Talk Radio programs under the WOR Radio Network brand and its 500 plus unique affiliations.

Lauren Crawford is a New York City-based writer and editor with a passion for music, entertainment news, and the sharing of Black stories. The South Florida native graduated from the University of Florida, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Telecommunication. After graduating in 2015, she moved to New York City. She has worked as a writer, reporter, editor, and digital host including overseeing the Black Information Network's digital site and social media accounts.

In addition to his new role as an on-air anchor, Gordon will produce special programming leading up to the 2020 Presidential election and will provide exclusive reports covering politics, Black culture and more. He is the recipient of a NAACP Image Award and the Journalist of the Year Award from the National Association of Black Journalists. Gordon’s first book, the best-selling “Conversations in Black,” was released in 2020 and features interviews with over 40 leaders and influencers for a “virtual” conversation about the state of Black America and new narratives about the continuing fight for justice and equality.

As BIN’s new Director of Network Operations, Thompson brings over 20 years of radio experience to the BIN team in the areas of Broadcast Operations, Programming, Sales, Affiliate Relations and Talent Management. He is the former Vice President of Radio Operations for Reach Media, has served as the Executive Director of Network Operations for Connecticut-based Buckley Radio and successfully managed syndication and affiliate clearances for the 15 nationally syndicated weekday and weekend Talk Radio programs under the WOR Radio Network brand and its 500-plus unique affiliations. In his new role, Thompson will report directly to Tony Coles, President of BIN: Black Information Network.

In addition to her new role as the Director of Local Advocacy and Engagement for BIN, Ingram will continue to serve as Senior Vice President of Communications for the Chicago Region of iHeartMedia Markets Group, where she leads a number of advocacy initiatives, working with more than 50 civic and business leaders to support education, voter registration, health awareness, volunteerism, women’s issues and other causes. Her additional responsibilities at BIN will include working with affiliate stations to increase their local advocacy efforts and engagement with community leaders and organizations. Ingram joined the Chicago station group as Director of Marketing in 1995 after holding marketing and promotions positions for the company’s stations in Louisville, Kentucky and Charlotte. She also will report to Coles.

BIN: Black Information Network Extends Across Four New Stations In Baltimore, Montgomery, Philadelphia And Washington, D.C.

New York, NY – August 31, 2020BIN: Black Information Network, the recently launched 24/7 comprehensive national audio news service dedicated to providing an objective, accurate and trusted source of continual news coverage with a Black voice and perspective, announced today that it will now be available on air at broadcast radio stations in Baltimore, Montgomery – AL, Philadelphia and Washington D.C. These four stations join other BIN markets across the country including stations in Atlanta, Augusta, Charlotte, Cleveland, Columbus - GA, Dayton - OH, Detroit, Greenville, Macon, Minneapolis, Nashville, New Orleans, Norfolk, Riverside, San Francisco, St. Louis and Seattle markets, bringing the total to 21 with more to be announced.

iHeartMedia has entered into a Local Marketing Agreement (LMA) and an Asset Purchase Agreement for WUST 1120 AM in Washington, D.C. and LMAs for WQLL 1370 AM in Baltimore, BIN 99.3 in Montgomeryand WTEL 610 AM in Philadelphia.
