About Robert Smigel
Robert Smigel is a writer, producer, actor and director known best for his Saturday Night Live “TV Funhouse” cartoon shorts, including The Ambiguously Gay Duo, Fun With Real Audio, and the X-Presidents, and as the creator and voice of Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog, the foul-mouthed puppet who has mercilessly mocked everyone from Star Wars and Bon Jovi fans to Eminem and Ted Cruz. Triumph continues to appear on The Daily Show and Hollywood Squares, but did the bulk of his poopery on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, for which Robert served as the first Head Writer/Producer, creating numerous bits including “In the Year 2000” as well as providing the mouth/voices for Conan’s celebrity “Clutch Cargo” interviews of Bill Clinton, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Donald Trump and many more.
Robert met Conan at SNL, where they collaborated on many sketches including the infamous Nude Beach and the Girlwatchers (with Tom Hanks). They also wrote and produced the legendary unsold pilot Lookwell starring Adam West. WHAT: “Artists on Artists on Artists on Artists” (AOAOAOA), the improvised comedy podcast featuring chaotic, pretentious, and hilariously unfiltered conversations between fictional Hollywood personalities, joins iHeartMedia and Will Ferrell’s Big Money Players network (BMP) today.
Hosted by Kylie Brakeman, Jeremy Culhane, Angela Giarratana and Patrick McDonald, the show was born out of a creative partnership that began on an Upright Citizens Brigade sketch team in 2019. The group launched the podcast during the pandemic as a way to keep creating together, building a following around its fully improvised format and ensemble dynamic. Since then, AOAOAOA has released more than 220 episodes.

Over seven episodes, Emmy-nominated journalist, investigative reporter and host Michele McPhee traces the extraordinary and unlikely criminal partnership between Jacob Kingston and Levon Termendzhyan, a reputed Armenian crime figure known to those around him as “The Lion.” Together, they built a billion dollar fraud conspiracy out of a biofuel subsidy program, and triggered the largest tax investigation in American history.
McPhee travels from Salt Lake City and its outskirts where Mormon fundamentalist groups laid roots, to gritty neighborhoods in Los Angeles and beyond to understand how Jacob Kingston, one of his father's more than 100 children and a man desperate to prove his worth to his powerful polygamist clan, The Order, ended up in business with one of LA's most feared operators. And how, once their scheme started generating tens of millions of dollars, they needed to find somewhere far from Utah to hide it all.
But this story isn't just about two men and their money. Around Jacob and Levon sits a web of dirty cops, political connections and transnational money launderers that reaches further than the federal agents investigating the case could have imagined.
