iHeartRadio Live: After Hours Line-Up

K’NAAN is known for his dynamic live performances and songs of hope and freedom inspired by his experience growing up in Somalia during the civil unrest of the 1980s.  The multi-talented Somali-Canadian recently collaborated with Clear Channel Media and Entertainment as part of the company’s Artist Integration Program, an integrated marketing campaign to support new music projects by leveraging Clear Channel’s platforms and audiences.  The program introduced his first single, “Is Anybody Out There,” featuring Nelly Furtado, from his latest album Country, God or The Girl.

Foxy Shazam’s unique caliber of musicianship features vocalist Eric Nally, pianist Sky White, guitarist Loren Turner, drummer Aaron McVeigh, bassist Daisy, and Alex Nauth on the trumpet.  Foxy Shazam is a soul band with a punk rock attitude that spreads their bombastic gospel and electrifies audiences with their rock music.  In January 2012, Foxy Shazam released their fourth album, the Church of Rock and Roll, with the recently revamped I.R.S. Records.

T. Mills, the California-native hip-hop artist, has come a long way from making music in his bedroom.  After self-releasing music online and landing a spot on the 2009 Warped Tour, T. Mills released his Leaving Home EP, featuring “Vans On,” and will release his full-length album in 2012.

ZZ Ward is a singer/songwriter who mixes her bluesy roots with hip-hop beats.  Her musical interest was sparked by her father, who played in blues bands.  She later connected with the hip-hop community in Eugene, Oregon, where she began to write and perform hooks at high-energy rap shows.  ZZ’s bluesy upbringing and rhythmic journey laid the foundation for her signature “dirty blues and beats” sound.  ZZ released her mixtape, Eleven Roses, in January 2012.

Dead Sara is a Los Angeles based four-piece rock band known for their supercharged music and electrifying live performances.  The band is led by Siouxsie Medley’s guitar riffs and Emily Armstrong’s powerful vocals, along with bassist Chris Null and drummer Sean Friday.  Dead Sara, whose first single “Weatherman” is currently the No. 1 most requested song on KYSR, will join the Vans Warped Tour this summer.  Dead Sara’s self-titled debut album is slated to be released on April 10 via the band’s own label, Pocket Kid Records through Fontana/Universal.

Clear Channel Majority Owners THL Partners and Bain Capital Commit Up to $300 Million to Media and Entertainment Investments with Ryan Seacrest Media
Clear Channel Acquires Minority Stake in Ryan Seacrest Productions to Fund Future Growth

NEW YORK and LOS ANGELES – January 31, 2012 – Ryan Seacrest Media (RSM), an investment holding company, and Clear Channel, a leading global media company, together with Clear Channel’s majority investors Thomas H. Lee Partners (THL) and Bain Capital today announced two new investment agreements designed to drive business growth across multiple media platforms.
Funds sponsored by THL and Bain Capital have together committed up to $300 million to working with RSM to identify, acquire and develop innovative media companies, media content and other media properties that can be leveraged to support a range of media enterprises.
Under a separate agreement, Clear Channel will acquire a minority stake in Ryan Seacrest Productions (RSP), a privately-held entertainment production company. RSP produces the hit series “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” the highest-rated show on the E! network, and the spin-offs “Kourtney and Kim Take New York,” “Khloe and Lamar,” and “Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami.” RSP also produced the Emmy Award-winning ABC reality series “Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution.” RSP is currently producing two new reality series including “Melissa and Tye: A New Reality,” for CMT and “Shahs of Sunset,” for Bravo.
RSP will remain creatively autonomous and continue as an independently-operated entity, majority-owned by Ryan Seacrest, and managed by Seacrest as Executive Chairman, Chief Executive Officer Adam Sher and Chief Financial Officer Jeff Refold. RSP will continue to develop and produce content for network and studio partners, including NBC Universal. I believe we all share a vision and a commitment to success.”
“Ryan is an unmatched creative talent with success across more media platforms and involvement with a greater variety of programming and venues than anyone else in the industry,” said Pittman. “His combination of business acumen and keen understanding of consumers and popular entertainment is an incredible asset. We’re eager to collaborate with him in developing new and significant opportunities in the television arena in a way that can maximize our relationships with music and other talent, bring greater benefits to our advertisers, and further build Clear Channel’s singular ability to deliver local, mobile and social execution across a truly national audience base.”
“Ryan Seacrest is not only an enormous talent as an individual, but a leading business visionary who has his finger on the pulse of the evolving dynamics in the media industry. He and his business initiatives are quite literally driving the future of how media can create value in ways never dreamed of in prior decades, and we are pleased to be his partner, both through Clear Channel as well as through our separate, new and exciting media property investment initiative,” said Bressler. “Putting the scope, scale, reach and resources of Clear Channel and the THL and Bain teams behind Ryan and his team underscores what he can achieve in this industry.”

K’naan Launches Artist Integration Program With Clear Channel Media And Entertainment
New York, NY – January 30, 2012 – Clear Channel Media and Entertainment, the leading media company in America with a greater reach than any other radio or television outlet, today announced the launch of its latest Artist Integration partnership with A&M/Octone Records introducing K'NAAN’s latest single, "Is Anybody Out There" featuring Nelly Furtado.  The Artist Integration Program is designed to increase audience awareness of up-and-coming music projects by leveraging Clear Channel’s powerful properties through on-air and online promotional campaigns.

Clear Channel will partner with A&M/Octone Records for a two week-long on-air/online Artist Integration campaign beginning Jan. 30 to launch K’NAAN’s latest single “Is Anybody Out There” featuring Nelly Furtado from his new album Country, God Or The Girl.  The program will include a series of on-air artist profile spots that will run across Clear Channel’s Contemporary Hit Radio (CHR) and HOT Adult Contemporary (AC) stations nationwide.  The campaign will drive listeners to download the single at iTunes, and direct fans to local station websites where they can find more information about K’NAAN.  As part of the Artist Integration Program, one winner and guest will receive a trip to Barbados to meet K'NAAN and see him and Nelly Furtado perform live.  Other elements of the campaign will include an exclusive interview with K’NAAN, custom artist pages, banner ads and online promotions with direct links to iTunes, where listeners can purchase the album.

“One of the most exciting things about the Artist Integration Program is that it allows us to stimulate projects for up-and-coming artists as well as established icons,” said Tom Poleman, President of Clear Channel National Programming Platforms.  “At our Music Summit last fall, our Clear Channel Program Directors fell in love with K’NAAN’s new project.  We’re excited to jump-start what’s sure to be K’NAAN’s breakout year.”
"We are thrilled to partner with Clear Channel to introduce K'NAAN to new audiences across the country.  The Artist Integration Program has rapidly become one of the music industry’s most important vehicles to launch new artists,” said Ben Berkman, Executive Vice President and Head of Promotion A&M/Octone Records.   “K'NAAN achieved great international acclaim with the worldwide success of his single "Wavin' Flag," and with Clear Channel's powerful platforms now behind him, we have a special opportunity to break K'NAAN's music in the US."

This new college radio programming furthers iHeartRadio’s commitment to providing listeners with an increasing variety of music choices from various formats, and will serve as a connection for alumni to their alma maters.
“We are thrilled to be among the inaugural stations offered as part of iHeartradio’s college radio programming,” said Mark Maben, General Manager of WSOU at Seton Hall University.  “WSOU has long been an innovator in college radio and partnering with Clear Channel and leveraging iHeartRadio’s resources and national reach is a logical next step for our station.  As a student-run station, working with iHeartRadio and Clear Channel means new opportunities for our students to learn and prepare themselves for careers in the 21st century media environment.”

“We are so excited that Clear Channel will offer a selection of college radio programming, including Ithaca College’s WICB, as part of the New iHeartRadio,” said Chris Wheatley, Manager of Radio Operations at Ithaca College. “College programming on iHeartRadio is a terrific addition for users, and also provides an exciting opportunity for our students involved with WICB.  Partnering with Clear Channel and becoming part of iHeartRadio’s national platform extends the reach of our broadcast to Ithaca graduates, students, parents and radio fans throughout the country.”

“I applaud iHeartRadio for adding the college radio category and bringing attention to the vibrancy and excitement of college radio and to the young talent the radio industry needs and is searching for,” said Dan Vallie, founder of the Keller Radio Talent Institute at Appalachian State University.  “Many of the students in college radio today have already been bitten by the radio bug and now it’s in their blood.  And this generation not only benefits from the hands on learning lab experience they gain at WASU, but they also bring to the industry video and web skills and are social media savvy.”
