Joe Randazzo and Chris Karwowski Launch New iHeartRadio Original Comedy Fiction Podcast “The Dr. “Sex” Reese Show”

“The Dr “Sex” Reese Show” Premieres Tuesday, January 18 With New Episodes Releasing Tuesdays

Los Angeles --January 17th, 2022--- Podcast creators Joe Randazzo (The Onion, Funny Or Die, @midnight) and Chris Karwowski (The Onion, [adult swim], audible.com) have partnered with iHeartRadio to launch “The Dr. “Sex” Reese Show,” an eight-episode comedy fiction podcast series that satirizes sex, media, and the “expert” industry as a whole. Randazzo plays the titular host, Dr. Robert “Sex” Reese, the nation’s only syndicated sex therapist who has never had sex. The first episode will air Tuesday, January 18, and can be heard on iHeartRadio and everywhere else podcasts are available. The first season kicks off when the doctor is accused of having an illegitimate child by a conspiracy theorist (Tim Heidecker), despite Reese’s long-held claim that he has never engaged in the physical act of love. A mild frustration becomes an existential crisis for Dr. Reese, as the facts point more and more to the fact that he is, somehow, a father. 

“Dr. Sex Reese believes that his utter disdain for intimacy in all its forms actually gives him a fresh perspective on human sexuality,” Randazzo said. “And the fun of the show is listening to him struggle to give advice to callers who very clearly disgust him—especially when these callers are some of the funniest performers in the world.” 

This season of “The Dr. “Sex” Reese Show” features calls with Paul F Tompkins, Martha Kelly, Kurt Braunohler, Dave Holmes, Bridey Elliot, Jordan Morris, Blair Socci, Seth Morris, Sara Schaefer, Ify Nwadiwe, Teresa Lee, Maggie Mae, Tamara Yajia, Robin Reed, Granison Crawford, James Urbaniak and more.

In addition, Megan Gailey also stars as “The Dr. “Sex” Reese Show” producer, Shelly, who is determined to discover the truth behind the paternal accusations and raise the show’s ratings at the same time. 

“’The Dr. ‘Sex’ Reese Show’ is pretty unique for a fiction podcast in that it’s almost entirely improvised but then edited for maximum impact,” said Karwowski, who also edited the show. “We wrote most of the ads and outlined the season arc, and scripted a few key scenes, but all told it was about 95% improvised.” 

The show began life in 2012 when Karwowski and Randazzo both worked at AdultSwim.com.

“It’s a pretty simple concept, a sex host that hate’s sex but by the time we started recording this season, we had a fully-realized character along with a well-developed backstory full of interesting characters,” said Randazzo. “This season takes everything we did at Adult Swim and pumped it full of comedic steroids, the kind you can only get from a former Soviet bloc nation.”

Frontman Dan Reynolds welcomed the audience by telling the crowd, “What a beauty, what a pleasure to be here, experiencing real music with real, live people.” They kept the show going with “Thunder,” “Enemy,” “Follow You,” and capped it all off with “Radioactive.”
  • Italian rock band, Måneskin mesmerized the audience with a performance of their hit songs. Kicking their set off with their breakout hit, “Beggin,” they continued with a high energy performance of their final two songs, “For Your Love” and “I Wanna Be Your Slave.”
  • Coldplay followed with a captivating set that included a performance of their hit songs “Higher Power,” followed by “Clocks,” “Fix You,” “Viva La Vida” and more including “People of the Pride,” which Chris Martin described as the group's "first proper rock song."   • All Time Low kicked off their performance at The Forum with “Disaster,” and one of their latest songs, “PMA.” The band also included other recent favorites in their setlist including “Once In A Lifetime,” and “Monsters and more”. As the band’s finale, they performed “Dear Maria, Count Me In” as the crowd went wild.
  • Kings of Leon started their epic setlist with “Crawl,” followed by “Waste” and “Time in Disguise.” The crowd went wild as the band started playing their massively popular song “Sex on Fire” and the energy continued as they sang “Find Me” and “On Call.” Before closing out their electrifying set, Kings of Leon finished strong with a run of “Closer,” “Use Somebody” and “Bandit.” 
  • twenty one pilots wrapped the 2022 iHeartRadio ALTer EGO presented by Capital One with performances of “Stressed Out,” “Heathens” and other favorites including “Ride,” which Joseph sang while making his way up and down rows of a sold-out crowd of excited fans. In addition to their songs, they also covered a few iconic renditions including Elton John’s “Bennie and the Jets” and a blended version of My Chemical Romanance’s “I’m Not Okay” intertwined with “Shy Away.”
  • WILLOW kicked off their set with their hit song “t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l,” which was the debut single off their recent album Lately I Feel Everything. They then jumped into “Gaslight” and “Meet Me @ Our Spot” before closing out their set with crowd-pleasing renditions of “Grow” and “Wait A Minute.”
  • Surprise guest Avril Lavigne stunned the ALTer EGO crowd with a special unexpected performance of her hits including “Girlfriend,” one of the biggest songs from her 2007 album The Best Damn Thing. Her set also included performances of “Bite Me,” from her seventh album Love Sux, which will be released on February 25. Lavigne rocked out to her early 2000s anthems, “My Happy Ending” and “Sk8er Boi.”

The Black Effect Podcast Network Launches New Original Podcast Series “Eating While Broke with Coline Witt”

NEW YORK -- January 13, 2022 – Coline Witt, serial entrepreneur and founder of Nick Cannon’s Celebrity High Magazine, has teamed up with Charlamagne Tha God’s and iHeartMedia’s the Black Effect Podcast Network to launch a new original podcast titled “Eating While Broke with Coline Witt.” The new podcast challenges selected self-made celebrities, entrepreneurs and influencers to recreate the meals they made and ate when they were struggling and broke. WHAT:  According to the official story, on April 4th, 1968, a lone gunman assassinated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. That man, James Earl Ray, pled guilty and was sentenced to 99 years in prison and for most people, the case was closed. However, there is more to the story, including a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the King Family that concluded Martin Luther King’s death was the result of a conspiracy involving multiple groups, including government agencies. “The MLK Tapes,” a new true crime podcast from the creators of “Atlanta Monster” and “Monster: DC Sniper,” will explore never-before-heard details about what happened to King on the day of his death, with rare recordings of eye-witness testimonies and new interviews with people who were there to reveal the true story of the plot to kill Dr. King.

The series will be hosted by William (Bill) Klaber, an author, part-time journalist and co-host of the podcast “The RFK Tapes”, who has been investigating the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy since 1989. While working on “The RFK Tapes,” Klaber interviewed a man named Bill Pepper, who spent forty years investigating the assassination of his friend, Dr. King. Pepper’s decades-long investigation included recording witnesses on tape. They revealed what they saw, and in some cases, what they had done. When Klaber heard this audio, it opened up another opportunity to expose the lies in a 50-year-old murder mystery using secrets that had been hidden on tapes.

Many little-known facts about the case will be explored in the series, including the original recordings of witnesses who heard, saw or did something on or around the day Martin Luther King Jr. was killed, as well as new interviews from William Pepper, James Lawson, Arthur Hanes Jr., Isaac Newton Farris Jr., Joseph Brown, and John Currington.
